DRAG RACING THE DEVIL
©Angry Johnny And The Killbillies- Bonesaw Lullaby BMI

I was sitting at a red light I was waiting for a green light
Up pulls this El Dorado with plates that said "Diablo"
With a guy, looked like an undertaker smile on his face,
leaned out the window and said:
"Hey Hayseed, you wanna race?"
Will I had nothing better to do since my baby gave me that big fuck you
So I said "All right buddy, right back in your face.
I'll race you to the end of the world just tell me - what are the stakes?"
He rolled his back window down, I saw something big and brown
It was a big ol' Rottweiler stuck his head out to look around
And I knew who I was racing, the light turned green I punched that hammer down
I got about a quarter mile I looked to my left and I saw him smile
He was all over me like I was standing still
He yelled out “Hey Boy, I hear you got some time to kill”
I prayed to Jesus for more power I didn’t wanna be devoured
That E Dorado faded back I thought that I was ok for a while
But then Scratch turned on the nitro and he did the first one second quarter mile
He pulled along side he was grinning this was his race and he was winning
That dog was barking I was wishing that I had my gun
I yelled out ”Hey Scratch, my soul ain’t yours until the race is won.
And only if you’ve won!”
That El Dorado scraped my door I had the pedal to the floor
But Volkswagon buses were never ever meant for speed
And then Scratch blew a tire and once again I took the lead
But I was running on empty he was running on sin
He came back doing 90 riding on the rim
I knew this time he had I knew it wouldn’t be very long
Then I saw the blue light flashing Scratch pulled over man I was gone
Long gone....
I was sitting at a red light I was waiting for a green light
Up pulls this El Dorado with plates that said "Diablo"
With a guy, looked like an undertaker smile on his face,
leaned out the window and said:
"Hey Hayseed, you wanna race?"
